Galbanum grows mainly in Iran and other parts of Middle East. The essential oil from gum-resin is thick, yellow with a hot, strong aromatic odour. In the past, it has been used as an incense in various religions for thousands of years especially in Egypt and described as painkilling, antispasmodic, diuretic and emmenagogue.
